Who We Are

Women meditating in a modern, open community room with warm orange lighting and natural plants, creating a peaceful, contemplative atmosphere.

The Rode Trip is an independent, female-owned studio. As the psychedelic and wellness industries continue to evolve, we adjust our approach to meet the specific needs of each project. We collaborate with a diverse network of designers, thinkers, spiritual leaders, and experts to provide design services at every stage of the journey, from preparation to integration.

The Rode Trip was founded on the belief that, while there is considerable focus on psychedelics and their effects, the containers* in which these experiences occur are essential for achieving the desired outcomes, and through design, we can shape the experience to significantly influence emotional, physical and spiritual well-being.

With this in mind, our holistic approach combines modern design principles with respect for the ancient wisdom of psychedelics, our connection with nature and evidence-based research to create environments and experiences that promote healing, self-discovery, and growth while encouraging broader acceptance and minimizing harm.

*We intentionally avoid using the term "set and setting" as it can oversimplify the complex interactions of a psychedelic experience. Instead, we interchangeably use the words container, journey, or experience to reflect what we see as an evolving process that often takes place across multiple spaces and over time.

Our Values

Fostering Inclusive and Accessible Communities: We’re dedicated to creating spaces that bring people together, ensure accessibility and celebrate diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

Honoring Indigenous Roots: We respect and acknowledge the ancient histories and cultural origins that have shaped the journey of psychedelic practices.

Prioritizing Sustainability: We embrace sustainable practices and materials to minimize environmental impact and honor the profound connection between psychedelics, humans and nature

Advocating for Destigmatization: We champion the positive impact of psychedelics through thoughtful design, advocacy and public education.

Annelie Rode

PRINCIPLE & FOUNDER

Building on her extensive experience and core values, Annelie has developed a diverse career over the past two decades, focusing on the human-centered design of buildings, brands, experiences, and systems. Her work has spanned immersive experiences, commercial spaces, and luxury hotels in both South Africa and the USA. She served as Global Creative Director at iRobot, where she spearheaded design and marketing initiatives that significantly shifted public perceptions of robotics.

Annelie holds a Master’s in Architecture and an MFA in Design and Technology. Her academic research centers on mushroom mycelium’s potential as a regenerative material for future ecosystems and its healing properties. This exploration has profoundly shaped her design philosophy, which is grounded in a deep respect for nature’s wisdom.

Now, through The Rode Trip, Annelie brings this vision to the emerging field of mainstream psychedelics. Her approach combines inclusivity, safety, and accessibility to create experiences that support healing, exploration, and self-discovery while honoring the cultural, historical and natural depth of these life-changing practices and the journeys that unfold within them.
